First leg of Passion Flights for Life

DDToday I departed Flippin, Ar. and flew to Monticello, Ar. Fueled up and had lunch with my daughter then flew to Vidalia, La.
I had a good tailwind and made it here in 4 hours. I was greeted by Donna Maroon who is a sweetheart and very helpful.
I am waiting for wind to quiet down and then will give a ride to Bill Smith, who has
pancreas cancer, and had chemo yesterday.

  1. It was good to fly along beside you to Melborne Jim.

  2. Today I was blessed by the EAA Chapter in Vidalia! Jerry Stallings picked me up at the motel and took me back to the airport, stopping on the way to buy the morning edition of The Natchez Democrat. On the front page was a nice writeup that Sam did and a picture of me telling about my mission. When I got to the airport, Donna Maroon (Presidentof the local chapter of EAA) filled my plane with gas, and gave me a card that had money in it. Those folks are so good, and I am truly grateful.

I strapped in Purple Passion and departed. As the deep green of the forests and the light green of the fields scrolled slowly beneath my wings and the endless blue above spread as far as I could see, I realized that this is the day The Lord has made, and I am rejoicing in it!

2 1/2 hours later, I landed in Ocean Springs, Ms. where I lived for 3 years. A friend from my old Church here and fellow pilot, Dave Spence picked me up, took me to lunch, and then we came to the home of Eldon and Dixie McClain where I will spend the night. My old, :) no I mean previous Pastor, Carl King came to visit also. It is such a joyous reunion. Now Dixie is preparing supper. Her meals are to die for! So with that I will sign off and 'see ya tomorrow!'
